HORT 451 | Retail Floristry | Spring 2023

This semester covered all aspects of retail floristry, and this portfolio captures the laboratory designs created in the course. Laboratory work included sympathy work, marketing displays, and applications of design techniques.

HORT 326 | Plant Propagation | Fall 2022

The experiment tested varying stratification methods on two flower species: Solidago rigida and Echinacea purpurea. The experiment concluded that 7-day dry-cold stratification method was most effective for both species.

HORT 315 | Issues in Horticulture | Fall 2022

This paper discusses the development of semitransparent photovoltaic cells in greenhouses. These cells can be used to generate solar energy to power greenhouse operations or to create specialized growing conditions.

HORT 454 | Special Events Design & Production | Fall 2022

The laboratory work in this course explored different design techniques and mechanics. The first half of the portfolio showcases this work. The second half showcases the preparation and installation of the events worked over the semester.

HORT 203 | Introduction to Floral Design | Fall 2021

This course provided thorough training on the elements and principles of design as well as fundamental design mechanics. We also covered commonly used fresh & & preserved floral materials, ordering design materials, & common uses for design silhouettes.

HORT 428 | Greenhouse Technology & Sustainable Crop Systems | Fall 2022

This tracks the production of 4 Poinsettia cultivars (Mirage, Prestige, Marble-Star, & Maren) & 4 houseplant species (Calathea orbifolia, C. roseopicta, Philodendron birkin, & Syngonium pink).
